In 1906, a school was built on the west side of the present property. An annex was added as the population increased. In 1935, grade 12 was taught for the first time at Shoal Lake Collegiate.

In 1926, a school was built on the east side and used as an elementary school. A two-story addition was attached in 1961. The old building was sold and removed.

In 1978 the two schools were amalgamated. New rooms were added and the new school officially opened in November of 1978.

Presently, Shoal Lake School is a K-12 school in the Park West School Division. Our school mascot is the Shark. Our staff and students are split up into four house teams, which reflect the farm equipment dealerships that can be found within the town of Shoal Lake: Massey, John Deere, New Holland, and Case. Our school serves the communities of Shoal Lake and Oakburn.
